well, i'm trying to make this artwork as japanese as possible, but it seems i fail because of the lack of references. anyone got any reference links???

actually, i want to mimic a japanese wall painting...

I disagree. I like the samurai as is. I think even the tree compliments the mood you were going for with the fluttering leaves. And to think, I thought you actually left a big, boring space on purpose. lol. You could always try to imitate sumi-e (although, I think that's Chinese) or you could use a Japanese poem with the traditional tiger, dragon, and waves. (Actually, except for the waves, I think those are ALL Chinese. Sorry.)
